From what I understand of your time, much has changed with regard to society's ideals regarding the differences between women and men. Nevertheless, it must be considered that the female disposition is less acquainted with the states of mind required for the effective investigation which forms the central part of my work.
My dear friend Lady Katherine, for example, though intelligent, intuitive and insightful, is oft driven to hysterics when confronted by what in the first instance appears to be psychic phenomena. She would b the first to admit it is most counter productive.
